Raja S. Mahidhara, M.D., thoracic surgeon, has joined CorVasc, a member of St.Vincent Medical Group. He is board certified in general and thoracic surgery. Dr. Mahidhara graduated Magna cum Laude from Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts. He earned his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh, School of Medicine, and also completed his general surgery residency while there. Dr. Mahidhara was Chief Resident of cardiothoracic medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles, David Geffen School of Medicine where he also completed a lung transplantation Fellowship.
Dr. Mahidhara has been awarded several honors and awards such as the Richard J. Behan Prize for Surgery, Thoracic Surgery Research Foundation-Resident Fellowship Award, and the Doris B. Maxwell Research Award. Dr. Mahidhara is well published in peer review journals and has written book chapters in his medical specialty. He has presented at many medical symposiums and conferences such as; The Society of Surgical Oncologists Annual Meeting, Society of Critical Care Annual Symposium, and the Pennsylvania Association of Thoracic Surgery. Dr. Mahidhara’s medical interests include evaluating new surgical therapies for end stage emphysema and pulmonary fibrosis.
Dr. Mahidhara holds memberships in the following medical societies; International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation, Society of Thoracic Surgery, Michigan State Medical Society, and the General Thoracic Surgical Club.
Dr. Mahidhara enjoys spending time with his family, running, and playing squash and tennis.
