Celebrating Our 42nd Anniversary of Cardiac, Vascular and Thoracic Surgical Practice

While cardiovascular disease continues to be the leading cause of death and disability in America, advancing science and technology has helped people live longer, more active lives than ever before. The doctors at CorVasc are dedicated to the continued improvement of the quality of their patients' lives by providing excellent care as well as participating in the development of new technologies. Their pioneering efforts in the clinical research of new drugs, devices, and surgical procedures will enhance patient care and outcomes.

The CorVasc Research Department was created to meet the rapid pace at which medical science and technology are growing in America and around the world. The department employs several full time medical professionals who review new research protocols and assist the CorVasc physicians in selecting those protocols most likely to help future patients while minimizing risk to research participants. All protocols are governed by strict FDA guidelines.

Current clinical research at CorVasc includes:

Cardiac
  • New mitral and aortic valves
  • Ventricular assist devices (mechanical support of the heart)
  • Drugs that will reduce the risk of heart attacks and heart damage that may occur during open heart surgery
Vascular
  • A variety of stents to open up blocked arteries leading to the brain and other organs
  • Gene therapy to develop natural artery bypasses in the leg
  • Drugs to increase clotting time for surgical procedures
